Aligning vocational training to the electromobile transformation by establishing the “training factory stator production” - A methodical deficit analysis with derivation of measures
In addition to the current challenges in production technology due to the shift from conventional powertrains towards electrified drive technologies, the disruptive transformation of mobility confronts OEMs and suppliers with major personnel challenges, which include new requirement profiles for prospective skilled workers. In order to meet the personnel requirements of industry and ensure the high quality of vocational training in Germany nonetheless, the current training concepts must be strengthened by the targeted integration of specific contents and be geared holistically to the needs of new occupational profiles. This paper presents a methodological approach for deriving current deficits in vocational education and training through the systematic analysis of framework curricula and the targeted survey of teachers working at German vocational schools as well as the derived training program to support the qualification of trainees. In order to obtain a training concept of high didactic quality, the approach is based on pedagogical methods to provide the best possible support and to convey the learning objectives related to professional, social, methodical, and personal skills. With the newly conceived “Training Factory Stator Production” at the wbk Institute of Production Science of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, a program for the training and further education of trainees, skilled employees and engineers will be introduced using the example of producing stators with hairpin technology, to support especially small and medium-sized companies in the personnel transformation process
Comet assay analysis of single–stranded DNA breaks in circulating leukocytes of glaucoma patients
PURPOSE: To investigate the amount of single-stranded DNA breaks in circulating leukocytes of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) patients. METHODS: A comparative quantification of DNA breaks was performed in circulating leukocytes of POAG patients and healthy controls. The following groups of subjects were compared: (1) POAG patients having primary vascular dysregulation (PVD), (2) POAG patients without PVD, (3) healthy controls with PVD, and (4) healthy controls without PVD. The damage to DNA resulting in single-stranded breaks was assessed by means of the alkaline comet assay in which the damaged DNA migrates out of the nucleus forming a tail, which can be quantified using image analysis. Damage was quantified as the comet tail moment, which represents the extent of DNA damage in individual cells. RESULTS: Leukocytes of POAG patients exerted a significantly higher amount of comet tails, which are indicative of DNA damage, in comparison to control leukocytes (p>0.001). DNA breaks occurred particularly in the subgroup of POAG patients with PVD in comparison to glaucoma patients without PVD (p=0.002). In the control group, there was no significant difference between controls with PVD and controls without PVD (p=0.86). CONCLUSIONS: POAG patients with PVD have a significantly higher rate of DNA breaks than both POAG patients without PVD and healthy controls with and without PVD
Greybody Factors for Brane Scalar Fields in a Rotating Black-Hole Background
We study the evaporation of (4+n)-dimensional rotating black holes into
scalar degrees of freedom on the brane. We calculate the corresponding
absorption probabilities and cross-sections obtaining analytic solutions in the
low-energy regime, and compare the derived analytic expressions to numerical
results, with very good agreement. We then consider the high-energy regime,
construct an analytic high-energy solution to the scalar-field equation by
employing a new method, and calculate the absorption probability and
cross-section for this energy regime, finding again a very good agreement with
the exact numerical results. We also determine the high-energy asymptotic value
of the total cross-section, and compare it to the analytic results derived from

Asymptotic Spectroscopy of Rotating Black Holes
We calculate analytically the transmission and reflection amplitudes for
waves incident on a rotating black hole in d=4, analytically continued to
asymptotically large, nearly imaginary frequency. These amplitudes determine
the asymptotic resonant frequencies of the black hole, including quasinormal
modes, total-transmission modes and total-reflection modes. We identify these
modes with semiclassical bound states of a one-dimensional Schrodinger
equation, localized along contours in the complexified r-plane which connect
turning points of corresponding null geodesics. Each family of modes has a
characteristic temperature and chemical potential. The relations between them
provide hints about the microscopic description of the black hole in this
asymptotic regime.Comment: References adde

Open and Hidden Charm Production in 920 GeV Proton-Nucleus Collisions
The HERA-B collaboration has studied the production of charmonium and open
charm states in collisions of 920 GeV protons with wire targets of different
materials. The acceptance of the HERA-B spectrometer covers negative values of
xF up to xF=-0.3 and a broad range in transverse momentum from 0.0 to 4.8
GeV/c. The studies presented in this paper include J/psi differential
distributions and the suppression of J/psi production in nuclear media.
Furthermore, production cross sections and cross section ratios for open charm

Search for the Flavor-Changing Neutral Current Decay with the HERA-B Detector
We report on a search for the flavor-changing neutral current decay using events recorded with a dimuon trigger in
interactions of 920 GeV protons with nuclei by the HERA-B experiment. We find
no evidence for such decays and set a 90% confidence level upper limit on the

Measurement of the J/Psi Production Cross Section in 920 GeV/c Fixed-Target Proton-Nucleus Interactions
The mid-rapidity (dsigma_(pN)/dy at y=0) and total sigma_(pN) production
cross sections of J/Psi mesons are measured in proton-nucleus interactions.
Data collected by the HERA-B experiment in interactions of 920 GeV/c protons
with carbon, titanium and tungsten targets are used for this analysis. The
J/Psi mesons are reconstructed by their decay into lepton pairs. The total
production cross section obtained is sigma_(pN)(J/Psi) = 663 +- 74 +- 46
nb/nucleon. In addition, our result is compared with previous measurements
Changes in visual function after intraocular pressure reduction using antiglaucoma medications
Purpose To evaluate the change in visual function after starting glaucoma treatment and correlate this to a decrease in intraocular pressure (IOP) in primary open-angle glaucoma patients.Methods A prospective, randomized clinical trial was carried out involving 54 glaucoma patients (54 eyes). After inclusion, patients randomly received timolol maleate 0.5%, brimonidine tartrate 0.2%, or travoprost 0.004% in one randomly selected eye. Patients underwent Goldmann applanation tonometry, visual acuity test, standard automated perimetry (SAP), visual quality perception test (visual analogue scale), and contrast sensitivity (CS) test, in a random order before and after the 4-week glaucoma treatment.Results There were statistically significant changes in IOP (mean change [standard deviation], 7.8 [3.6] mmHg, P 0.001), SAP mean deviation index (0.84 [2.45] dB, P = 0.02), visual quality perception (0.56 [1.93], P = 0.045), and CS at frequencies of 12 cycles/degree (0.10 [0.37], P = 0.03) and 18 cycles/degree (0.18 [0.42], P = 0.02) after the 4-week treatment when compared with baseline. No statistically significant differences were found between the treatment groups in visual function changes after treatment (P > 0.40). No significant correlations between IOP reduction and changes in visual function were found (P > 0.30).Conclusions Visual quality perception, visual field mean deviation index, and CS at higher frequencies improve after starting glaucoma therapy. However, no correlation was found between IOP reduction and changes in visual function, and no differences were found in visual function when the three medications studied were compared. Inclusive Production Cross Sections from 920 GeV Fixed Target Proton-Nucleus Collisions
Inclusive differential cross sections and
for the production of \kzeros, \lambdazero, and
\antilambda particles are measured at HERA in proton-induced reactions on C,
Al, Ti, and W targets. The incident beam energy is 920 GeV, corresponding to
GeV in the proton-nucleon system. The ratios of differential
cross sections \rklpa and \rllpa are measured to be and , respectively, for \xf . No significant dependence upon the
target material is observed. Within errors, the slopes of the transverse
momentum distributions also show no significant
dependence upon the target material. The dependence of the extrapolated total
cross sections on the atomic mass of the target material is
discussed, and the deduced cross sections per nucleon are
